Within the framework of the Erasmus+ CBHE Project “Development of Soft Skills at Higher Education Institutions of Armenia and Georgia in Compliance with 21st-Century Labour Market Requirements” (DeSIRe), the State Academy of Fine Arts of Armenia (SAFAA) recently introduced its new Soft Skills Laboratory. This initiative represents a significant step forward in enhancing the educational and professional development opportunities available to students at the Academy.

During the presentation of the laboratory, attendees and representatives from various subdivisions of the Academy were provided with an overview of the laboratory’s activities, its core functions, and the primary goals of the DeSIRe Project. The laboratory was showcased as a dynamic space designed to foster the development of essential soft skills, which are increasingly critical in today’s competitive labour market.

The laboratory is equipped with modern technological tools, literature, and educational resources acquired through the project. These resources are intended to enrich the students’ learning process, facilitate effective teaching, and provide practical opportunities for developing key competencies beyond traditional academic knowledge. Students will have access to tools that support interactive learning, collaborative projects, and self-directed skill development.

Soft skills development is a vital component of shaping competitive and versatile professionals. The laboratory will enable SAFAA students to not only acquire advanced artistic and professional knowledge but also to develop essential personal and professional skills. These include effective communication, teamwork, critical thinking, problem-solving, time management, entrepreneurial skills and leadership capabilities—all of which contribute to students’ self-realization in labour market and personal growth.

By introducing this laboratory, the Academy aims to create new opportunities and perspectives for students. The facility will serve as a hub for workshops, training sessions, and practical exercises designed to strengthen competencies that support both professional advancement and personal development. The laboratory also reflects the Academy’s commitment to innovative teaching methods and the continuous improvement of educational practices in the field of fine arts.
The establishment of the Soft Skills Laboratory at SAFAA demonstrates a strong commitment to equipping students with the tools and experiences needed to succeed in contemporary professional environments. It provides a platform for students to develop confidence, broaden their horizons, and gain the skills necessary to excel in their future careers.
