About the Event

The Erasmus+ KA2 CBHE Development of Soft Skills at Higher Education Institutions of Armenia and Georgia in Compliance with the 21st Century Labour Market Requirements (DeSIRe) Project (101128804) was officially launched on 26 February, 2024. This significant event for Vanadzor State University (VSU) was attended by regional and city authorities, representatives from Armenian, Georgian, and European partner universities, university staff, alumni, and students. The DeSIRe project’s primary goal is to enhance the education systems in Armenia and Georgia by focusing on soft skills-based teaching and learning methodologies, strategies, and technologies. By aligning academic knowledge and skills with 21st-century labor market demands, the project aims to improve students’ career prospects and enhance the competitiveness and entrepreneurial abilities of graduates. Master’s students Arpine Hakobyan and Anzhela Ter-Movsisyan, from the English Language and Literature program, moderated the event sessions. Official speeches were delivered by VSU Rector Rustam Sahakyan, Erasmus+ National Office Coordinator Lana Karlova, Lori Region Deputy Governor Hovhannes Avetisyan, Vanadzor Community Head Advisor Arman Bernetsyan, Goris State University Rector Tigran Vandunts, and DeSIRe Project Coordinator Lusik Vardanyan. Rustam Sahakyan expressed his wishes for a smooth and effective implementation of the project and thanked both local and international participants for their contributions. In the latter part of the event, partner institutions introduced their organizations, discussed their activities, strategic directions, and social engagement. The cultural segment featured performances by the VSU Choir “Biaina” and talented students, accompanied by the duduk, guitar, and qanun. The day wrapped up with Lusik Vardanyan outlining the main objectives and expected outcomes of the project. This was followed by brief presentations of the Work Packages and planned activities by partner organizations. The event ended with a Q&A session and a group photo.
