About the Event

This training was implemented within the framework of the DeSIRe Project and corresponded to the title of MOOC 1: “Effective Business Communication and Negotiation Skills.”

As part of the DeSIRe Project, two training seminars were organized at Vanadzor State University. The first session, held on 17 November, targeted students, while the second session, conducted on 19 November, was designed for professors and academic staff.

Both sessions aimed to develop communication competencies, negotiation abilities, conflict-resolution approaches, and emotional intelligence.
All trainings were delivered by Arine Danielyan, Senior Lecturer at the Chair of Foreign Languages and Literature of Vanadzor State University.

The student-focused session covered the essential aspects of communication, including verbal and non-verbal expression, the importance of active listening, understanding audience characteristics, adapting messages to the listener, and the fundamental principles of negotiation. Throughout the session, students engaged in various interactive activities such as ice-breaker games, non-verbal communication exercises, short negotiation role-plays, and group reflections. These activities helped strengthen collaboration, boost self-confidence, and facilitate the practical application of theoretical knowledge. The students’ active involvement demonstrated that the chosen methods were effective and aligned with their learning needs.

The training for professors and academic staff aimed to enhance communication within the university environment, improve negotiation practices, address conflicts and disagreements arising in academic settings, and foster clear and effective verbal and written communication. Participants took part in dynamic ice-breaker activities, analyses of real academic situations, group negotiation tasks, and non-verbal evaluation exercises. These methods contributed to professional self-reflection, improved teamwork, and more advanced communication skills.

Overall, both seminars produced significant results. Participants strengthened their communication and negotiation skills, deepened their understanding of interpersonal dynamics, and became more prepared to apply the acquired competencies in their academic and professional activities. The combination of theoretical input, practical exercises, and creative methods created an effective, engaging, and motivating learning environment that contributed to the personal and professional growth of all participants.
