Gyumri “Youth Initiative Centre” NGO (YIC)

The DeSIRe project has also involved 6 associated partners, all of which will bring an essential added value to the project. Youth Initiative Centre (YIC) is a non-governmental organization which was established in 2008 in Gyumri by a group of active young people experienced and well recognized in the field of youth work.The Mission of YIC: to promote the development of the young person as a competitive, initiative taking, responsible individual and a citizen.The motto of YIC is: ―For YOUth, With YOUth, By YOUth‖! From the beginning of its establishment, YIC NGO has actively involved youth in the activities of the organization, empowering and encouraging them to take initiatives that would contribute to the community and would raise the civic activism of young people. YIC continuously works on the development of personal and professional skills of young people, gives training and coaching to youngsters, youth leaders and youth workers, empowers youth with fewer opportunities to become future change-makers of their societies. YIC is actively involved in developing the institute of open youth work in Armenia. For this purpose, YIC has established 5 open youth centers in Armenia (Gyumri, Spitak, Armavir, Ejmiatsin and Gavar) which provide free services to youngsters between 13 and18 aimed at their capacity building, education and empowerment. YIC actively cooperates with educational institutions and provides a variety of non-formal learning opportunities to both schoolchildren, college/VET, university students and their staff. In 2022 a MoU has been signed between the YIC and VSU for cooperation in the field of educational internships for the university students. All the Staff of YIC NGO will be involved in the promotion of the project. The Staff consists of youth workers with huge expertise and experience in youth works who are active young people at local, national and international levels. The project managers are specialized in their fields of activities, such as youth policy and community development, employability and entrepreneurship, cross-border dialogue and cultural expression and awareness. The project managers have been working in the field of youth work, youth empowerment, and community development for a long period of time and accumulated an excessive practice which will contribute to the successful implementation of theDeSIRe Project through assisting in various phases of the project, committing time, resources and energy and disseminating results. The Public Relations Manager will also be engaged to ensure visibility and exploitation of results.
